Nevins Building, Hemet

I hit the market today.  There wasn't much left.  All the meat had gone bad a long time ago, the smell made me gag.  The only thing edible left in that case was some pork rinds.  I used to love these things, they were cheap and really good with some hot sauce.  I ate one, no sauce since I couldn't find any.  It was the first time I had eaten at a table since all this shit began.  It felt...odd, not natural anymore.
The store was full of narrow walkways even before this, most of the shelves were tipped over and there wasn't much left.  All the fruit was rotten, most of the canned soup was gone.  What was left had been smashed open.  The whole place smelled like shit.  I did find a few things though: there was an entire package of ramen noodles, had 15 packs in it.  I also found some edible, albeit stale, bread.  That was about it.  All the water was gone but the sink still had some pressure in it.  I filled up a dented plastic gallon jug almost to the top before the water quit flowing.  I'm rationing it as best I can, believe me, it's hard.  I could probably drink that entire gallon in one sitting.  I still have most of it left.  I ate two packs of noodles, no flavor.  I don't need salt making me more thirsty than I all ready am.
Near the market was a small sporting goods store.  I decided to check it for camping supplies, maybe some freeze-dried food or something, a sleeping bag would've been nice.  The inside was a bloody mess.  It looked like a big battle happened here.  The guys that ran this place were gun nuts as I remember.  They put up a good fight, a lot of dead bodies.  I've almost gotten used to that smell.  It's weird how the rotten meat made me gag but the smell of death barely fazed me.
There wasn't much left.  All the guns were gone but I did find 4, 12 gauge shells, brings my total up to 7.  At least my gun is fully loaded now.
So, here I am, another night up here.  I didn't see a single zombie today, first time in a month.  Wouldn't be so bad if there were regular people around or even animals.  There's nothing, just straight silence.  I'm losing light again.
Tomorrow I'll think about what to do.  Maybe I'll make another break for the quarantine line, if it even exists anymore.
Next installment. This one's for you new reader!

Thank you, lately I have been obsessed with zombie survivor stories.
Yours is the best so far.

Quick question, are your zombies the really slow ones, the really fast ones, or the ones that can move as fast regular people
